statement:
Fundamental to my work is the expression of
energy and emotion through the
process
of
mark making; through
layering the canvas with abstract “marks” of intense,
saturated color.
Each
brushstroke is energetic,
immediate
and free, and the play between
marks, color and space gives
each painting its dynamics.
For me the
abstract is
meaningful; it expresses the
energy, feelings, moods and
thoughts,
which
make up
my emotional “inscape”.It
is a kind of writing in color,
which
reflects both the discipline
of
my Chinese calligraphy practice
and the freedom of a Zen spirit
I want
each work to
express and evoke an emotional
intensity in which there can be
multiple meaning
interpretations.
